How to Get Your Arizona Real Estate License and Start Your Career
Thinking About Becoming a Real Estate Agent? Let’s Talk!
If you have ever thought about a career in real estate, Arizona’s real estate market is growing, and there has never been a better time to get your license. With the right steps and the right brokerage (hint: REAL Broker), you will be helping buyers and sellers in no time.
From Passion to a Top 1% Realtor
I still remember when I first decided to get my real estate license. I had always been passionate about helping people, and I knew real estate was the perfect way to make a real difference in their lives. Fast-forward to today and I am beyond grateful to have built The Forkenbrock Group, won awards like the Top 40 Under 40 and Icon Agent, and even had the chance to host The American Dream TV show. But let me tell you, none of that happened overnight.
Starting in real estate can feel overwhelming, but having the right people and brokerage behind you makes all the difference. That is exactly why I chose REAL Broker. The support, technology, and community of top agents helped me grow my business in ways I never imagined.
Ready to Start Your Real Estate Journey?
Let’s break it down step by step.
Step 1: Meet the Basic Requirements
Before you jump in, you need to make sure you qualify. In Arizona, you must:
- be at least 18 years old
- have legal U.S. residency
- pass a background check
If that sounds like you, let’s move on!
Step 2: Complete the 90-hour Pre-Licensing Course
Arizona requires 90 hours of real estate education from an approved school. You can take the classes in person or online, depending on what works best for you. Some great schools offer flexible schedules, so you can study at your own pace.
Step 3: Pass the Arizona Real Estate Exam
Once you finish the course, you need to pass the state exam. It has two parts:
- National real estate laws and principles
- Arizona-specific real estate rules
The test is multiple-choice and taken at an approved testing center. Do not stress! If you prepare well, you will pass with no problem.
Step 4: Complete Your Fingerprint Clearance Card
Before you can apply for your license, Arizona requires a fingerprint background check. You will need to submit your fingerprints through the Arizona Department of Public Safety. This step takes a little time, so it is a good idea to start early.
Step 5: Apply for Your License
Once you pass your exam and get your fingerprint clearance, you can officially apply for your real estate license through the Arizona Department of Real Estate. At this point, you are so close to launching your career!
Step 6: Find the Right Brokerage (This Part Matters!)
Here is the truth: your first brokerage can make or break your real estate career. You need a team that supports you, provides training, and helps you grow. That is why I chose REAL Broker, and it has been the best decision ever. At REAL, you get:
- Top-tier training and mentorship (so you are never alone)
- A supportive community of agents
- The latest technology to help you grow your business
- Better commission splits (so you keep more of what you earn)
If you want to thrive in real estate, having the right brokerage makes all the difference.
Step 7: Start Your New Career!
Once you join a brokerage, you are officially a licensed Arizona real estate agent. From there, it is all about learning, networking, and building your business. And guess what? I would love to help you get started!
